New ways to paint your house exteriors
Thursday August 27, 2009
If you feel your house paint is getting tired, it's time to give your house a makeover - something beautiful but something a bit different.
Paint is always a great way to reinvigorate your home, adding a nice bit of character. It will also help you add value to your home, as well as making it easier to market.
The big decision you really have to make, is what colour you would like to paint your house exterior. A good way to work out what colour you should choose is to determine what style house you would like to have, and what you wish your house to project - would you like an abode that exudes glamour and hip, or would you prefer a country style of house?
You might also want to ask yourself if you want your house to fade into the surrounding scenery or would you like to make your house the feature of your street?
And what mood would you like your house to be? You can choose to have a range of moods - anything from a subtle, neutral mood to a house that pops out with exceeding vibrancy and vivacity.
Take a look at our new ideas you can take apply when you're planning your house exteriors.
Detail
Highlight any fine architectural details of your house exterior with an intense colour such as deep magenta.
You can also draw attention to any of your house's trimmings in a darker or stronger colour than the walls, at once complementing your house's exterior and adding highlight.
Mood
Exude sophistication and luxury with the rich colours of coffee, caramel and creams.
If you would like to create a mood of sumptuous Provence why not choose a warm, yellow tone to exude warmth.
However if you are after a cooler, beach-drenched look then blues and greens will produce the effect you want. Complement your oceanic look with warm, neutral hues.
For people who only want to change the look of their house exteriors only a teensy bit then choosing a colour in the same shade as the houses' present colour will do the trick.
