What feature walls can do
A feature wall is a great way to fill your room with more colour and charisma without being overpowering. It is also a way to highlight any features and shapes in your room, and helps break up open-plan living spaces.

What wall to use
You know you want a feature wall, but which one will produce the best effect? It's a good idea to choose a wall that has no windows or doors, which often detracts from the colour. However if you want a certain feature such as a beautiful fireplace or a certain painting highlighted then the wall it rests against could be the perfect place for a feature wall in your house.

You might want to pick a wall that is not too big as very large walls can tend to dominate the room's space and create an unbalanced effect. On the other end, using a very small wall as your feature wall can tip the look of your room out of kilter.

You might also want to use wallpaper, especially because it comes in a wide range of designs and textures, helping create a unique effect.
